ABOUT ME

“I see life in angles, in lines of perspective, a slight turn of the head, the blink of an eye, subtle glimpses of magic, others might pass by.” - Mickey Smith

I fell into wedding photography not ever really expecting that taking photos could be more than just a hobby. Ten years down the track and I'm still pinching myself that I found a job that means so much to me.

Growing up in the small coastal town of Thirroul, I found my initial passion in photography capturing the moods of the ocean and surrounding landscapes.

A chance encounter with a wedding photographer at a restaurant opened me up to a new world, leading me down an unexpected yet fulfilling path. The transition from ocean and landscape photography to weddings was not merely a change of scenery; it was a transformation that allowed me to channel my creativity and connection into a celebration of love and commitment.

I love using what I learned from shooting landscapes and translating that into weddings, with the interplay of people and places.

ETHOS

When people look at my photos, I want them to feel something. I want an image to take them back to a place in time. I want them to be in the moment it was captured.

At weddings, I try to be a ‘fly on the wall’ and document the wedding subtly. I find this is the best way to capture authentic moments.

I place equal weight on making my clients feel comfortable and capturing the best photos I can. A wedding day is meant to be fun and I take pride in being a help and not a hindrance.

I regularly service the South Coast, Southern Highlands, Sydney, Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley but I am happy to travel whatever distance it may be to be there on your day, whether it be Bowral or Barcelona.

APpROACH

The photos you get from your wedding day are going to be there for the rest of your life. I strive to capture the day in a way that is going to be as relevant in 50 years as it is today. I take inspiration from fashion and editorials as well as photojournalism and fine art landscape photography. The blending of these elements creates a timeless style that will look beautiful and elegant forever.

During the portrait session, I like to give subtle cues rather than set up elaborate poses. That way the photos look natural and make the couple feel comfortable. For the rest of the day, I'm constantly on the look out for moments to capture, big or small.

I put a big emphasis on finding and reading light. I believe this art can only be developed from experience.
